Consultancy and technical expertise is available in :

Austbreed always operates in accord with state or country legislation governing the practice of veterinary medicine.

We offer consultancy services to clients of other veterinarians in Australia and overseas, and we undertake to liaise with the client's regular veterinarian(s) to achieve the best possible outcome for all stakeholders.

Our services are also available direct to veterinarians - having previously worked through local colleagues in Indonesia and Malaysia.

Email consultations are available. Where treatment of animals is involved, we would generally undertake this in cooperation with the client's local veterinarian.

Concept Design, Technical Feasibility and Project Planning
The development of a viable agricultural business venture requires a considerable range of expertise and skills. We work closely with experts from a range of disciplines to achieve the best possible outcome for clients.

We have links to engineering, agricultural and financial organisations which enable us to contribute to clients in this way.

Our expertise is also available to support engineering, legal and financial organisations in animal health and welfare matters relevant to their advice to clients.
Quality Management / Hazard Analysis In Agriculture
The introduction of hazard analysis principles and quality assurance are important to both producer and customer.

Consumers demand that product is produced in ways that ensure that both environmental and human health issues are dealt with.

We believe that this is compatible with profitability, provided that appropriate management systems are introduced to benefit both producer and the consumer.

We offer the expertise to analyse current operations, or to design programs specific to the individual client or which enable clients to adopt industry standards.
Risk Management

The use of risk management techniques is essential to profitable livestock production.

This may involve considerations about economic and market factors, as well as managing disease risks.

We can contribute to clients' enterprises by evaluating the need for a range of precautions including vaccination, prophylactic treatments and barrier control.

Introduction And Evaluation Of Husbandry Practices

Australian farmers are the most efficient producers of many classes of livestock, especially those from grazing management systems.

Our associates have extensive experience of these management systems and are able to evaluate a client's protocols and procedures against local and other benchmarks.

We work closely with each client to determine the best possible management systems to take account of class of livestock, nutrition, and environmental factors.

Cost factors and animal welfare are also important considerations.

Animal Health Diagnostic Technology

The rapid and effective diagnosis of disease is a critical facility in any modern livestock enterprise.

Our experienced veterinary staff with access to our own and other laboratory services, ensure that we are able to meet the needs of our clients and their animals in all aspects of animal health.

Importantly, we are able to advise on appropriate use of veterinary services to treat and manage disease.

Farm Project Development

Our associates have extensive experience of livestock farming under a wide range of conditions in Australia and elsewhere.

All of us have personal experience of major mistakes and pitfalls, which are common in agribusiness.

We can make a substantial contribution to clients in the development of farm projects.

We are able to advise both appropriate and inappropriate design, programs and protocols.

Drug and Chemical Resistance Problems

Resistance of animal pests and diseases to chemicals used for their control is one of the greatest threats to animal production.

This may result in the inability to raise particular types of animals in some environments.

Austbreed is an innovator and leader in the field of sustainable parasite control.

We offer our clients the opportunity to develop alternative strategies to manage parasitic and infectious diseases, including the more rational use of drugs and chemicals.

International Movement Of Livestock

The movement of animals between countries may involve many animal health and welfare issues, and usually comes under the control of several government authorities in both countries including national Customs, Quarantine and Transport Departments as well as regional agricultural / veterinary agencies.

Our staff have knowledge and expertise in managing animal welfare issues and meeting health requirements of the various agencies. It is important that the needs of the animals are met and that they arrive in good condition at their destination.

It is probable that animals moving from one country to another may experience new diseases or climatic conditions. We are also able to advise on and supervise this process, including the development of vaccination protocols.

Losses are sometimes experienced when inappropriate livestock are selected for introduction into a second country. We can assist with this process, and participate in the selection process at all stages.

Austbreed has established links with exporters licensed by Livestock Australia, with the ability to work closely with these exportersto achieve the best outcome for our clients.

Alternative Dispute Resolution (Mediation)
If disputes arise in project development or management, mediation provides an alternative to legal proceedings, which often results in all parties achieving their desired outcome, at relatively low cost.

One of our associates has training in this area and we have links to a well-respected practitioner in this field in Western Australia.

This service is NOT a substitute for proper legal advice, and we would welcome the opportunity to work with a client's legal adviser if these services were required.
